About Us

For as long as I can remember, I have always loved animals. Owning my first horse since the age of 11 and growing up with a variety of different pets including, dogs, cats, ducks, chickens, rabbits and sheep. I always loved science at school, especially Biology and Anatomy and Physiology, however I became interested in veterinary physiotherapy after owning a horse with multiple issues that benefited from having physiotherapy. This inspired me to want to learn how I could improve animals’ health and well-being and help to enhance their movement and quality of life and aid in their recovery.

Currently, I have a 21-year-old Arab X pony called Sharlo who I regularly compete in showjumping, however we enjoy x-country and hacking as well. I also have a 15-year-old horse called Breeze who I compete in showjumping, however she has recently given birth to a beautiful palomino foal called Lily, who in the future I aim to compete. I have two pet dogs called Ruby and Charlie Bear. Ruby is a 8-year-old goldendoodle and Charlie Bear is a 2-year-old cockapoo, who both love going for lots of walks and enjoy regular physiotherapy.

Sport and exercise is a huge part of my life, attending the gym multiple times a week and also having a passion for running, in which I completed my first half marathon in October 2023. I feel this gives me a great understanding of the pressures and demands of sport and exercise may put on yourself and your horse and dog, both mentally and physically, highlighting the importance physiotherapy and Sports Massage Therapy can have to enhance performance and prevent injury. I completed three years of study at Moreton Morrell College and became a fully qualified Veterinary Physiotherapist after graduating in October 2022. As part of my membership with NAVP, throughout the year I complete CPD courses, enabling me to keep up to date and add to my knowledge and skills.

What is Veterinary Physiotherapy?

Veterinary Physiotherapy is a science-based veterinary profession that aims to maintain mobility and function, enhance performance and aid rehabilitation following injury, pain, surgery, illness or age related issues.

A thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology and biomechanics enables veterinary Physiotherapists like myself, the ability to devise an effective physiotherapy treatment plan for your pet which are individually designed by taking into your pet’s specific needs whilst also clinically reasoning and based on current scientific research.

The role of a Veterinary Physiotherapist is to fully assess an animal using a holistic approach to produce a beneficial treatment programme to aid in your pets recovery or enhance performance in both working dogs and sport horses. Physiotherapy in working dogs and sport horses can aid as a preventative measure by helping to identify symptoms and issues earlier on to minimise sport related injuries or problems in the future. Physiotherapy can also help to maintain there fitness to enable your working dog and sports horse to work at its peak performance.

As a Veterinary Physiotherapist, a variety of techniques will be used during each session, including massage, electrotherapies, stretching, joint mobilisation and myofascial release. Tailored exercise programmes will also be created in conjunction with these techniques, forming a rehabilitation programme suitable for that animal.
